Yes, completely. Income Refinery is a single-file web application that runs entirely in your browser. Your data is stored in your browser's localStorage — it never leaves your device, is never transmitted to any server we operate, and is never shared with any third party. The only external calls the tool makes are to fetch live FX rates (no user data sent) and to the dividend API providers you optionally connect (only the ticker symbol is sent, not your holdings or income figures).
Your data lives in localStorage, so clearing browser storage would remove it. Free users should take extra care for this reason — it's one of the most compelling reasons to upgrade to Pro, which includes both JSON backup/restore and Excel export so your data is never at risk. Pro users: export after every session and keep a few dated copies in Google Drive or Dropbox so you can restore from any device.

Live FX rates are automatically fetched from the European Central Bank via the Frankfurter API. Each holding or property stores its own currency and FX rate, and the tool prompts you to sync when rates are refreshed. You can track exchanges across NYSE, NASDAQ, LSE, HKEX, SGX, TSX, ASX, and 23 other major markets — all in one unified dashboard.
Mostly yes. Data entry, editing, calculations, and viewing your dashboard all work fully offline. Live FX rate refresh, dividend lookup, and watchlist spreadsheet parsing (via SheetJS CDN) require an internet connection. FX rates are cached and remain valid for 24 hours, so you can use the tool offline with your last-fetched rates.
Income Refinery supports a priority pipeline of 8 data sources: your own uploaded watchlist spreadsheet (highest priority), then Twelve Data, EODHD, Financial Modeling Prep, Alpha Vantage, Polygon.io, MarketStack, and finally Yahoo Finance as a last-resort fallback. All 6 premium API key inputs are available on both the free and Pro plans — simply enter your own API keys from each provider. Yahoo Finance requires no key but is unreliable in practice — coverage is inconsistent and it may return no data without warning. We recommend connecting at least one premium provider for dependable results.
